Household business or limited company
Over three years the biggest gap is not the setup fee but monthly accounting. The tool does not compute tax, and says why right below.
This tool does not compute tax. Since 1 January 2026 enterprises no longer pay the thuế môn bài (the annual business licence fee): it has been abolished, and from 2026 onwards household businesses no longer pay it either, so it is not part of the comparison. The other taxes depend on each business's revenue and how it declares: enter the amount your tax office told you, or call us and we will work it out with you.
Three-year total

Where they differ
| Household business | Limited company | |
|---|---|---|
| Liability | The owner is liable with their entire personal assets. | Members are liable up to the capital they contributed. |
| VAT invoices | More limited, depending on the declaration method applied. | Full e-invoicing for corporate customers. |
| Branches and other premises | No branches; additional premises must be notified separately. | May open branches, representative offices and business locations. |
| Bookkeeping | Lighter: presumptive tax no longer applies from 2026; with annual revenue of 1 billion đồng or less a household business pays no VAT or personal income tax, only reports revenue and keeps simple books. | Mandatory, with regular filing periods. This is the biggest gap. |
